So I was walking through historic centro de Quito this morning post volunteering when stuff landed on my back and neck. The lady next to claimed it was a bird. I kept walking, she then try to gesture down into a below ground dark garage with ‘el bano’, she then tried to distract me while a young man with convenient toilet paper held alongside his map tried to pat me down, I wouldn’t let him and went off to the bus. It was interesting, unfortunate I have to clean my shirt. I’ll be honest they are smoother in Asia and the bird poop smells more like guano there (has to be liquid enough to throw). Also as I’m 6’3 the angle wasn’t right where it landed.
My house mother said yes this is typical robbery strategy. Anyway I feel happy I didn’t fall for it 🙂
So now about roses – Ecuador is a HUGE country for flowers – its one of their principal pillars of economy. A dozen roses costs about $2 here. You see flowers everywhere. Sunday night I came down to the families apartment for them making Christmas cookies and decorating, lots of christmas music. Here you see the final result with the flowers in.
Not enough Christmas cookies! If you can’t cover an entire table with enough cookies to feed the whole neighborhood are you really even trying? 😆
