Volunteering start

So I got back to the airport at BKK at 1pm for my 3.45pm. After 2 hours looking and at 4pm, a police officer helping me, I went and bought another SIM for my phone which did calls only - and called the emergency number. This got me hooked up with the right people….
Then after 2 hour and 30 minutes off a ride in a car squished in with 3 people (including a nice Australian called Bridget (22)) who was off to the elephant sanctuary we arrived at our accommodation about 10 minutes from Singburi.
On the drive we were warned about the large mosquito problem…..
So after dinner I get my room key that I am sharing with Caleb an American from Indiana. There is an attached bathroom with no hot water and the room has no air conditioning. You can hear the crickets and animals all around. It’s not jungle but it’s certainly rural Thailand. I am on a bunk bed and the bed is… lets just say not firm.

I fall asleep, and the next morning have my orientation. I am offered a private room with AC and hot water for an upgrade price. I turn it down for now. One, I wanted to remove my privilege, secondly I hope this acclimatizes me next week for working construction at the school. We did a little tour of the market. This week is culture
They did take me aside Monday morning and say normally only teenagers here….l
At this point I now have a working phone and wireless card. I have spent about 3000 Baht at Wireless for this but I’ve cracked the LCD on my camera. I am letting go of that and just sitting in it. I am expecting little disasters and after my passport drama everything else is small. I appear to be in a habit of dropping things today.
I keep reminding myself when I am lonely (which I am often now), that I can put up with anything for 2 weeks.
We visited the a temple and A shopping mall today plus studied some more Thai Words. After dinner we had some Siam Dancing, I ended the night doing drinks with the other volunteers and walking some of them to the 7/11 15 minutes away for snacks.
