Today was not the best day – we lost a couple of hours to SAS trying to find our bags which included at one point them saying oh we’ll ship them back to your home in America…. instead we’re trying to have them chase us to Stavanger but we’ll see.
As a result we visited a Private doctor ($60 appointment) which we booked less than 24 hours earlier and got one of Renee’s medications ($7.80) which would normally have cost us about $200 uninsured in the USA, even with our insurance its $25. This was without their National health. They apologized for the price. It was her birth control people… that is the difference in healthcare systems
We then shopped for some underwear and other sundries like razors. Renee was surprised that the Bra’s don’t have tags because the labels are printed directly on the fabric. We picked up a compressible daypack just in case the luggage doesn’t/does show up.
On the tram system to the Nobel Peace Center – which was far more fascinating than I expected. It was interesting that the man who invented dynamite started the peace prize and was such a champion of finding alternate methods. Even though he had over 300 patents his lack of marriage and his self view was very harsh. Walking through a group of amazing people who had impacted the world was very power – however some of it was bittersweet like Chamberlain who won the price in 1925 for helping better treaties between France and Germany but many blame for not standing up to Hitler initially. The man who Hitler locked away in 1933 for publishing about Germany’s illegal rearming.
One section of interest was that of media in Russia and Philipines – both the oppression and freedom.
After a post museum treat we rode back to our hotel – picking up some local pizza. I had a ”Sneaky” pizza which had minced meat and pineapple. Very tasty. Hush you heathens who don’t enjoy pineapple on pizza. lots of options for it here. Renee of course had pepperoni pizza.
