It is not hard to leave Sing Buri because the location is a little remote – the volunteering is difficult because I’m not used to manual labor, not because it’s hard. They have a smaller schedule for volunteers. I adjusted well to the temperature but the lack of easy hot water still is an irritation 🙂
There are many things I don‘t want to forget because they create the memory of the place. The sound of birds in the morning and throughout the day – always chirping, the sound of loudspeakers talking at 6am (national anthem and other stuff) plus occasionally during the day as people drive past selling stuff. Mosquito’s at night. Sitting in the open air and eating while the birds carol.
What I will miss the most is the other volunteers, young, Smart, passionate, full of energy. They made me feel welcome and accepted. All on our own journeys. Even the drinking and card games pushed me in different ways to experiences I wouldn’t have had. I will miss their company on the rest of my journey.
I am looking forward to hot showers and air conditioning,
