Today was a slow day – getting ready and heading to the train station (Oslo S) for our ride to Stavanger – we caught the tram for the station with sandwiches and drinks in hand.
It was nice waiting on the platform for the Go-Nordic train. We stood at section D on the platform which was where our Komfort (how it is spelt) class section was going to stop according to the overhead signs displaying carriage to platform section.
As we boarded we made our way to our assigned seats 33 and 34. The Komfort carriage has a free tea/coffee section but there is a canteen carriage just a small way down. The seats had small foot rests and plenty of room – far more comfortable than an economy plane seat.
We passed through a number of small towns, stopping at some. Seeing little a family fixing a roof on a barn, grandpa and his grandson waving at the train. Throughout the journey the train ran through steep valley’s, the bottoms cut with blue rivers and lakes. Sheep and long haired cattle sat in fields in the center of the valleys. It was beautiful.
As we passed out of the mountains down to Stavanger, we passed along the coast for a while seeing the lights of homes and houses, yachts bobbing at anchor in Marina’s. Finally 7 hours later we had arrived, we strolled the 8 minutes to our hotel which is right on the quay next to the ocean, dropped our bags and bought ourselves Burger King as it was already 9.45pm and most restaurants kitchens were closed.
Buger King, home from home😂
